BHUBANESWAR: The Bhubaneswar Development Authority (BDA) on Saturday conducted a detailed review meeting of the ongoing town planning (TP) schemes, focusing on infrastructure development across nine revenue villages under TP schemes I through IV. BDA has made significant progress, completing 60 km of embankment road and 64.9 km of drainage work. The authority also constructed 29 culverts and finished 4 km of bitumen work in designated areas.

Officials said that hearings for landowner objections and suggestions under the TP-8 scheme, covering Andharua and Daspur, are currently underway. BDA is also planning to implement 14 new TP schemes in zone IV to boost planned development and urban infrastructure.

Under the TP scheme framework, landowners contribute 40% of their land for infrastructure development while retaining 60% as TP area. The developed areas will feature 9m-wide roads and essential utilities, including drainage, water supply, sewerage, and electricity.

The ambitious project aligns with the Comprehensive Development Plan, 2010, which proposes a 64.9 km ring road within the Bhubaneswar development area. BDA plans to implement 45 TP schemes across 58 revenue villages along this ring road.

BDA vice-chairman N Thirumala Naik urged officials to expedite the scheme’s execution and maintain regular progress reviews. The meeting was attended by collector (Khurda) Chanchal Rana and BDA secretary Manas Ranjan Padhi, among others.
