GURUGRAM: Massive building law violations in Saraswati Kunj, which is adjacent to Parsvnath Exotica in Sector 53, are creating serious security and civic challenges for adjoining colonies, said residents, who now have written to the CM, demanding immediate action to stop these violations before the situation spirals out of control. They alleged that unauthorised multi-storey structures house 20 to 30 people per plot and lack basic amenities.
Jhuggis, kitchens and illegal warehouses contribute to unsanitary conditions, with open defecation worsening hygiene.
Despite repeated complaints to District Town Planning Department since Nov 2023, no action has been taken, they said, adding that this was in defiance of the 2016 order of Punjab and Haryana High Court which put a stay on construction in Saraswati Kunj and it posed a severe security and civic challenge for the 3,000 residents of Exotica.
The 28-acre gated society with 18 towers and approximately 900 flats is divided into two phases. Phase-2, which consists of towers D4, D5, and D6, directly faces Saraswati Kunj.
Workers and labourers frequently enter the township through a revenue road, raising security concerns.
On the other side of Exotica’s phase-2, large commercial warehouses are being illegally constructed on residential plots. Houses up to five storeys have also come up, with owners converting them into unauthorised PGs and hostels with 30 to 40 rooms.
These violations not only go against zoning regulations but also strain essential resources such as water and electricity supply, and waste management in the area. \Ashok Singhal, president, Exotica RWA, said, “Rampant illegal construction activity is being carried out in Saraswati Kunj, putting the safety of Exotica residents at risk. This is happening despite the HC order and should be stopped immediately.”
Rajnish Magan, secretary, Exotica RWA, said, “The large-scale illegal construction in Saraswati Kunj is a violation of building laws and despite repeated complaints, authorities have turned a blind eye to the issue. We have written to the CM and urge him to intervene.”
