Despite surpassing Rs 800 crore by March 31, the civic body fell short of its Rs 900 crore target for 2024-25. Property tax department collected Rs 826.1 crore, including Rs 20.97 crore through an amnesty scheme from March 10 to 31, offering 50% reduction in late payment penalty. Commending responsible tax payment, NMMC commissioner Kailas Shinde said, “Developmental work in the city depends on revenue source like property tax and people have come forward to contribute their share.” — B B Nayak
