Union Minister G Kishan Reddy has written to Telangana chief minister Revanth Reddy flagging land acquisition for over ₹12,500 crore worth infrastructure projects remaining stuck in the state, delaying their execution.
Besides this, officials said several railway projects are also stuck because of the same reason.
In a letter to the CM, the Union coal and mines minister Reddy, who hails from the state, said of the 1,550.529 hectares required, only 904.097 hectares has been acquired by the state and handed over to the Centre.
This land is required for highway building, according to the minister, with works worth an estimated ₹12,619.27 crore being stuck.
According to Reddy, 646.432 hectares of land is yet to be acquired by the state government for constructing 2,500 km across 16 national highways.
Besides roads, officials said the ₹715 crore Secunderabad Railway Station is being redeveloped.
‘The recently inaugurated Cherlapally railway station and the ₹800 crore Rail Manufacturing Unit in Kazipet, Warangal require land to solve accessibility issues and these are currently pending with the state,’ a senior official told ET.
Reddy said the Union government has constructed national highways worth ₹1.20 lakh crore across the state in the past 11 years, doubling their length to 5,000 kms over this period.
