INDORE: Devi Ahilyabai Holkar Airport management is set to take possession of 20.48 acre of land situated below Bijasan Tekri, a process pending for seven long years, by constructing a boundary wall around it. This development comes as an agreement has been reached to construct an alternative road to replace the existing one to reach Maa Bijasan Temple, which was obstructing the airport’s expansion plans.
In October 2018, the state govt announced the allocation of the 20.48-acre land to the airport. However, the presence of a road traversing the land, connecting Maa Bijasan Temple and further towards Dhar Road, prompted the govt to stipulate that the airport could not take possession until an alternative route was constructed. Subsequently, an extension of Super Corridor was considered as an alternative route to connect Dhar Road. Besides, it’s been decided to construct a road near the Central School to reach Maa Bijasan Temple.
Now, the airport management has issued tenders for the construction of the boundary wall. The project includes the construction of the boundary wall itself, along with security huts and a portion of the residential area’s boundary wall. These works will entail an expenditure of Rs 2.53 crore and are expected to be completed within nine months. However, the construction of the boundary wall will be prioritised. The primary development planned for this land is a multilevel car parking facility. This will subsequently pave the way for the construction of a new terminal at the airport. Additionally, the land will feature amenities such as escalators leading to the underground metro station, shopping zones, and food courts.
