GURUGRAM: The enforcement wing of GMDA on Monday issued 72 notices to unauthorised constructions, encroachments and illegal accesses along key master roads in sectors 47, 49, 50, 51 and 57.
The notices were issued in the view of two key stretches from Sohna Road to Mayfield Garden and another from Baani Square to Golf Course Extension often being choked with traffic due to rampant encroachment and poor access planning.
Of the total notices, 48 were served to businesses for encroaching on the right of way with unauthorised temporary structures, including makeshift shops and kiosks, and 24 were handed out for creating illegal access points without prior permissions from GMDA.
The violators were asked to clear the encroachments and seek access permissions from the metropolitan authority within a week.
“Our objective is to ensure that owners are aware of the need to obtain proper access permissions from GMDA when creating access points to master roads. There will be zero tolerance towards unauthorised access points. The encroachments not only violate planning norms but also aggravate traffic congestion,” said RS Batth, DTP, GMDA, and the nodal officer for enforcement.
The stretches where the action was initiated pass through key areas such as Park Hospital, Good Earth Mall, and Baani Square, and have been a hotspot for traffic congestion. Residents of nearby societies — including Malibu Towne, Sispal Vihar, South City 2, Nirvana Country, and Mayfield Garden — have complained also about the traffic snarls, especially during peak hours.
To address this issue, Batth said that GMDA will explore the provision of service roads along these stretches, adding that the right of way should be restored.
