NOIDA: Highlighting the presence of major industrial houses and growing investments, industrial development minister Nand Gopal Gupta ‘Nandi’ on Friday described Noida, Greater Noida and Yamuna Authority (YEIDA) regions as “the crown jewels of Uttar Pradesh, just as Kashmir is the crown of India”.

The minister said promoting industry and investment is “our govt’s top priority”. “With new units coming up, employment opportunities will increase and Uttar Pradesh will continue its journey to becoming the best-performing state,” the minister said after reviewing various projects during his two-day visit to Gautam Budh Nagar.

Directing senior officials of Noida Authority to ensure “no project takes longer than the stipulated time”, the minister asked them to increase the land bank and improve coordination with architects to speed up building plan approvals. After inspecting the approval process, Nandi identified delays and instructed the Authority to create a mechanism to immediately address “deficiencies”.

He reviewed major areas including land acquisition, infrastructure quality, construction timelines and pending lotteries. He directed officials to accelerate stalled projects, address pending issues and “improve overall transparency and efficiency”.

The minister held an extensive five-hour review meeting where special focus was given to resolving pending builder–buyer disputes and clearing backlogs in property registrations. The minister also emphasised enhancing the aesthetics of the Delhi–Noida entry gate to reflect the city’s growing stature.

Speaking after the review, Nandi criticised previous govts, saying, “Whether it was the BSP or SP govt, everything then ran on slips and money. But in these eight years, Uttar Pradesh truly established itself. Anyone trying to break the law or engage in corruption will not be spared.”

Nandi also questioned delays in completing engineering and electricity-related works and ordered quicker disposal of affidavits pending in courts. He instructed the removal of legal representatives whose performance was found unsatisfactory and demanded a complete report on pending and resolved court cases.

The minister called for large-scale planting, cleaning and proper maintenance in horticulture parks. “There should be proper quota-based penalties where needed, not symbolic fines,” he said.

After Noida, he also held a review meeting of Greater Noida Authority in the evening.
