GURUGRAM: The civic body has launched an official chatbot service to provide property tax-related information directly to residents via phone calls and text messages.
The service will share information about pending tax amounts, convenient payment methods, submission deadlines, and applicable govt concessions and schemes. All communications will be sent through the designated number, 8048637474, officials said.
Additional commissioner Yash Julka said, “This initiative is a significant step towards greater transparency and digital empowerment. Citizens should not be confused, as this is an authorised service of the MCG. They are requested not to ignore calls and messages from this number and pay their taxes on time to avoid penalties.”
The launch comes amid rising complaints from residents about fraudulent calls demanding bill payments and threatening serious consequences for non-compliance. In some cases, residents were even asked to download a specific mobile application or make immediate payments. To counter such scams, officials clarified that no such notifications have been issued by the MCG.
