NEW DELHI: The Delhi Development Authority (DDA) has fixed the deadline until the end of this month for the occupants and owners of flats at Signature View Apartments to vacate the properties, allowing redevelopment work at the site to be accelerated.
A decision in this regard was taken during the authority meeting on Friday. “Given the structural assessment by IIT declaring the building unsafe and the court’s directive for demolition, priority was placed on expediting the evacuation of the complex. Senior MCD officials also attended the discussion. If required, MCD may issue evacuation notices to occupants as per norms, as the structure has been classified as hazardous and dangerous. Thereafter, electricity and water supply would be disconnected as the first step. Additionally, with the onset of the monsoon season, delaying action or risking potential incidents would be unwise,” stated the official.
The proposal stated, “If the allottees or owners do not vacate their flats before Sept or the month as decided by the authority, the flats will be vacated with the help of MCD in compliance with the high court’s direction.” The authority decided July-end as deadline, said officials.
The proposal also stated that the vice chairman of DDA be authorised to put in place an appropriate standard operating procedure (SOP) for the seamless implementation of the process of vacation of flats and payment of facilitation amount in lieu of rents.
On Friday, the authority announced the payment of a facilitation amount of Rs 50,000 per month for HIG flats and Rs 38,000 per month for MIG flats towards rent during the period of reconstruction.
