BENGALURU: Here is good news for B khata property owners who have been waiting for a building plan, Cauvery water connection and electricity supply. Deputy Chief Minister’s personal secretary Dr Rajendra Prasad has written a note to the Additional Chief Secretary of Urban Development Department to take measures to avoid inconvenience to the more than 1.50 lakh property owners waiting for the plan due to the Supreme Court’s direction on illegal constructions.
The note is based on a letter written by former president of BJP Bengaluru South NR Ramesh. “Most of the buildings are constructed on B khata properties. In the interest of property owners, you have to come up with a plan to sanction building plans for the structure constructed on B khata properties by imposing a penalty. You have to introduce rules and regulations for the construction of buildings in future. You are advised to take suitable measures as per the norms,’’ the note read.
Ramesh told BM the Karnataka government has to take measures on par with Telangana and Tamil Nadu governments for the benefit of people who constructed buildings on B khata properties. “The state government must fix a deadline for regularisation of buildings constructed on B khata properties and not allow construction of the buildings against norms in future.”
The recent Supreme Court judgement on illegal constructions has put lakhs of property owners in trouble as the BESCOM and BWSSB have refused to provide water connection and electricity. “We paid a deposit to the BWSSB to supply Cauvery water a few months ago but the authorities have kept my application pending. I welcome the Deputy Chief Minister Personal Secretary’s note,’’ said Sudarshan, a property owner.
