VISAKHAPATNAM: Visakhapatnam Metropolitan Region Development Authority (VMRDA) chairman Pranav Gopal and metropolitan commissioner KS Viswanathan will be available at the VMRDA office to receive public objections and suggestions regarding the master plan throughout the day on July 16 and 17, Wednesday and Thursday.
This will mark the conclusion of the nearly month-long consultations held to receive objections and feedback from the public and people’s representatives on the master plan, covering areas within the jurisdiction of the VMRDA including Anakapalli, Visakhapatnam, and Vizianagaram districts.
Although the original plan was prepared during the YSRCP regime, the new govt decided to revise it in light of widespread allegations that certain modifications were made to benefit specific individuals.
“We request the public and people’s representatives to utilise this opportunity, as we will be available to hear their suggestions, objections, and complaints regarding the master plan throughout the day on Wednesday and Thursday . They can meet us on the third floor of the VMRDA office between 11 am and 5 pm on both days,” said Pranav and Viswanathan.
The state govt has recently constituted a seven-member technical committee, comprising several senior officials, to examine the grievances and technical concerns raised during this consultation process, which concludes on July 17.
Recognising the need for broader civic participation, the VMRDA launched public consultations at the constituency level across its jurisdiction around two weeks ago to gather feedback and complaints. These meetings aim to raise awareness and solicit input on key infrastructure proposals under the master plan–2041, particularly where significant land-use changes and right-of-way adjustments are proposed.
