MOHALI: The Greater Mohali Area Development Authority (Gmada) will hold a numbering draw for Aerocity’s commercial SCOs (shops-cum-offices) and bay shops on Aug 14. It will take place at 11am at the community centre, Purab Premium Apartments, Sector 88.

The draw is meant for properties allotted under the land pooling scheme, with numbering to be assigned to eligible Letter of Intent (LoI) holders. The list of LoI holders for commercial SCOs and bay shops has already been uploaded on the Gmada website. Gmada has asked LoI holders to inform the office by 5pm on Aug 11 if any of their names are missing from the uploaded list. No objections will be entertained after this deadline, it has said.

Officials clarified that the actual allotment of these SCOs and bay shops will take place only after the completion of development work at the site, which, according to the engineering wing, will be accomplished in the next three months. LoI holders are invited to be present for the draw proceedings.

As per the Gmada beneficiaries’ list, there are 40 eligible applicants for 60 square yard bay shops, 131 applicants for 100 square yard SCOs, and 29 applicants for 121 square yard SCOs. The commercial sites are spread across various locations in Aerocity, developed on land acquired by the authority for city expansion. Officials said the draw will be conducted in a transparent manner in the presence of participants, and numbering will be allotted according to the final list of eligible applicants.

This move is expected to bring clarity to property owners awaiting possession under the land pooling allotments in Aerocity.

Aerocity Mohali, the most expensive project of Gmada, is a significant patch of urban development sprawled across 1,000 acres near the bustling Chandigarh International Airport, making it a prime location. The area comprises a total of 3,950 residential plots, each varying in size to cater to diverse needs and preferences.

However, the residents of Aerocity are not satisfied with the development. Blocked sewer lines, poor power connectivity, bad roads, and garbage dumps are some of the civic problems plaguing the city.
