MYSURU: The Mysuru Development Authority (MDA) (formerly know as MUDA), on Friday ratified the auctioning of corner and intermediate sites, sanctioned a free site to war martyr MV Pranjal, and decided to develop mobile applications to keep tabs on MDA properties and digitise records. It also approved new projects for new layouts spanning 400 acres in its first meeting.
The meeting was chaired by DC G Lakshmikanth Reddy at the MDA office. He said about 400 subjects were taken up for discussion, with some kept pending for want of documents, a few rejected, and many approved.
MDA in-charge commissioner KR Rakshith told TOI that the meeting approved providing a 60×40 site to Captain Pranjal, the 29-yr-old who lost his life during an exchange of fire with terrorists in Nov 2023. The meeting also addressed matters of providing sites to six other war martyrs.
The meeting approved various layout projects spanning 400 acres within its jurisdiction. MDA has also decided to develop mobile applications to keep tabs on MDA properties and records, similar to the revenue department, the commissioner stated.
The authority lacks accurate information about its properties since its inception in the early 1900s when it was called the City Improvement Trust Board, and later became Mysore Urban Development Authority (MUDA) before establishing as MDA in May 2025.
To monitor court cases, a dedicated mobile application would be developed so that officers at the helm of affairs have complete information about the disputed properties at their fingertips.
Rakshith said about 63 civic amenity sites were approved by various govt agencies, including the education department, to set up hostels for students, and for CESC and KPTCL to build infrastructure.
The meeting also addressed matters regarding the approval of proceedings at the MUDA general meeting which was held in Nov 2024. It ratified the auctioning of vacant corner and intermediate sites in various layouts to consolidate the authority’s financial resources.
MDA authorities also decided on the provision of sale deeds to the allottees of houses distributed by the MUDA under HUDCO, EWS, LIG, MIG, HIG, and through bank assistance, upon payment of the remaining instalment with interest.
Regarding the approval and authorisation to issue notifications for the distribution of land, the MDA decided to dispose of various such properties within its limits this year.
