LUDHIANA: The regulatory wing of the Greater Ludhiana Area Development Authority (Glada), demolished an unauthorised colony, including its roads and illegal constructions, in Bhadla village on Thursday.
Glada chief administrator Sandeep Kumar said a special drive had been launched to take punitive action against those fleecing residents on the pretext of offering cheaper plots in unauthorised colonies, which lacked statutory sanction and compliance with government norms.
The chief administrator urged people not to purchase property, plots, or buildings in unauthorised colonies as Glada would not provide any facilities like water supply, sewerage, or electricity connections.
He said the list of approved and regularised colonies, along with sanctioned maps, is available on the official website of Glada and asked prospective buyers to check here before buying any property.
Besides undertaking a demolition campaign, Glada also recommended filing FIRs against developers of unauthorised colonies in the district, Kumar said.
