NOIDA: Noida Authority carried out a demolition drive on Wednesday against illegal constructions in Salarpur Khadar village, where 39 developers allegedly built around 60 buildings on 24 plots. Most of these structures are six to seven floors high and have been marketed as 1BHK to 3BHK flats priced between Rs 30 lakh and Rs 65 lakh.
An Authority team consisting 50 officials reached the area with six earthmovers and tractor-trolleys to begin demolitions.
Police teams were also deployed at the spot.
Officials initially moved to raze buildings on a few identified plots, but work was halted after farmers produced court stay orders.
Subsequently, demolition was carried out on three other plots, where tin sheds and site offices were razed. Officials said the drive will continue and all illegal buildings will be demolished soon.
According to officials, several plots in the area, including plot numbers 728-735 and 745-752, have been illegally developed. Here, developers raised multi-storey apartments without approval.
In July, notices had been issued to the builders, but the developers allegedly removed them and continued construction clandestinely on the land. Officials said that they are now preparing to take action against the developers under the land mafia law, in coordination with the district administration.
Noida Authority has also written to the district magistrate about illegal groundwater use for construction at the site and sought steps to curb exploitation.
This will help restrict further unauthorised building activity, officials added.
Earlier this month, Noida Authority teams were deputed to Salarpur village and adjoining areas to prevent illegal construction.
The field teams – which comprised five managers, an assistant manager, four junior engineers, 20 field staff, and two police personnel – have been tasked with daily inspections at the village. These teams will submit reports to the senior manager of Work Circle 8 to ensure close supervision and swift action against encroachers.
