CHENNAI: Chief minister M K Stalin on Friday directed officials to prioritize petitions related to patta transfers, property tax, drinking water connections, ration card address changes, and farmers’ grievances while inspecting an Ungaludan Stalin camp in T Nagar.
During his visit to the grievance redressal camp held at Ward 133, Stalin asked officials to act with special care on requests from persons with disabilities and to promptly resolve petitions under the Kalaignar Magalir Urimai Thittam. He instructed them to accept applications even from residents arriving after the notified hours and ensure time-bound disposal.
Reviewing the camp’s functioning, Stalin noted that birth certificates were being issued on the spot, employment cards registered immediately, and assistance provided for opening bank accounts. He praised the initiative for delivering multiple govt services at one location.
In the first camp held in Ward 133, 852 petitions were received, with the majority of the petitions coming for enrolment for the KMUT scheme. Residents at the camp welcomed the initiative, saying it enabled them to access various govt services and get grievances addressed swiftly.
Later, Stalin inaugurated the Kalaignar centenary building constructed at a cost of 29 crore at the Highway Research Station campus in Kotturpuram and formally launched the Tamil Nadu State Highways Authority’s office and its emblem.
The new authority, modelled on the NHAI, was created to speed up decision-making and avoid delays in major road and bridge projects. It will oversee six-lane and expressway projects, implement schemes through public and private participation, and adopt advanced technologies and strict quality controls to ensure world-class road infrastructure. Officials said the authority aims to link state highways seamlessly with local road networks, improve road safety and access.
