NASHIK: The land records department will conduct a ‘Bhumi Adalat‘ on Oct 1 at the division-level, as an attempt to resolve land disputes amicably between complainants and respondents.

According to deputy director of land records department for Nashik division, Mahesh Ingale, people have issues either related to the mutation entries in the land records or the land measurement, etc. “There are more than 350 cases that came to me as the appellate authority after the aggrieved challenged the earlier verdicts of the respective authorities. In most cases, it is amply clear that the solution lies in front, but they are not aware,” he said. Ingale added that his team was attempting to counsel both parties to find a solution that benefited all the stakeholders.

“In some cases, it is the personal fight between two people that is the result of litigation. In some other cases, the complainant has no idea that the result is not going to change even if they go into the court of law, but just that they will waste time and money. We will counsel the people over the issue,” Ingale said.

The officer pointed out that the highest number of cases is that of the farmers, and since the space is in litigation, they are unable to develop it. “Nobody wants a place that is in litigation. The time and money they will spend in litigation will cause irreparable damage. The farmers are at the losing end, and when the sentiments run high, the situation becomes dangerous,” said the officer, hoping that the large number of litigants would benefit from it,” the officer added.

There are 54 offices of the land records department spread across the five districts: Ahilyanagar, Nashik, Jalgaon, Dhule, and Nandurbar.
