JAIPUR: Jaipur Municipal Corporation (JMC) Heritage Wednesday served notices on owners of 16 unsafe buildings in Walled City to vacate them within 24 hours. The corporation also demolished unsafe portions of two buildings and temporarily sealed them after shifting out the residents. Orders for repairs were also issued to the owners of nine buildings.
Officials said that the corporation also deployed personnel from the building construction branch to monitor the situation round-the-clock.
Deputy commissioner of Hawa Mahal Amer zone Seema Chaudhary said, “These actions are crucial to prevent any accidents or incidents in areas of Amer, Brahmapuri and Gangapol, especially amid heavy rain. The corporation has made it clear that failure to comply with the repair orders will result in further action against the building owners.”
Actions taken include the temporary sealing of properties like 1140, Galta Walon Ki Bagichi, 15, in front of Vijay School, Old Amer Road, 334, Gurudwara Wali Gali, Old Amer Road, 330/9, Shobhag Mahal, Old Amer Road, 1374, in front of Kaluram Mawe, Gangapol, Ragro Ka Mohalla, Handipura Amer, and Sitaram Bazaar, in front of Jyoti Jewellers.
Demolitions were carried out at Ojha Ji’s Haveli at Gandhi Chowk and Meenas Mohalla in Amer. Repair work was ordered for Munshi Ramdas Ji’s road near Samod’s Haveli.
In Kishanpol zone, five dilapidated buildings were sealed and three building owners were ordered to carry out repairs.
