NEW DELHI: Delhi Development Authority (DDA) will organise weekly special camps to expedite the disposal of housing conversion cases.
According to a recent circular, these camps will initially be held at the DDA auction hall on the ground floor of Vikas Sadan from 2.30 to 4.30 pm, starting Oct 23. In the first phase, camps will be conducted at this central location, but if housing societies request, future camps may be organised in residential areas. The objective is to resolve leasehold-to-freehold conversion cases efficiently.
“To speed up the clearance of pending housing conversion cases, public camps will be held every Thursday, offering on-the-spot assistance to allottees,” the DDA stated.
Key features of these camps include immediate resolution of housing conversion and related matters wherever possible. Housing branch staff from all zones will be present to ensure comprehensive support and proper guidance on the required documents. Officials will primarily address financial and dues-related queries. All allottees with pending conversion or related issues are encouraged to attend and utilise this facility. Based on public demand, future camps will be organised in various residential areas.
Direct interaction with allottees will facilitate instant query resolution and case processing, including help with uploading necessary documents to simplify the application process.
The initiative follows repeated complaints from residents about difficulties in obtaining freehold rights. DDA clarified that flats were sold on leasehold, but freehold status grants full ownership rights. This move has been approved by the vice-chairman of DDA.
In April, lieutenant governor and DDA chairman approved disposal of DDA land on a licence basis to generate Rs 1,000 crore and increased conversion charges by 10% for commercial and industrial properties, though residential fees remain unchanged.
