NEW DELHI: Delhi Fire Services (DFS) has rejected the building plans for the General Pool Residential Accommodation (GPRA) colony at Sarojini Nagar, citing serious non-compliance with the National Building Code (NBC). Officials said the project developer has been told to rectify the deficiencies and submit revised plans.
The Sarojini Nagar GPRA project is part of a large-scale redevelopment plan for seven govt colonies in south Delhi with residential as well as mixed use.
The fire department’s report flagged issues related to building access, fire exits, hydrant placement and escape route width. “The proposal could not be cleared as it did not conform to the standards of fire prevention and life safety as mandated under the NBC and DFS rules,” an official said.
It noted that several high-rise blocks lacked adequate open space for fire tender movement, while refuge areas and exit doorways were not designed as required. The distance between office compartments and the circulation space in basement parking were also found insufficient.
