NAGPUR: One of the most prime real estate land parcels in Civil Lines, on which Maharashtra Housing and Area Development Authority (Mhada) housing project stands currently, is likely to go for redevelopment and unlock the land’s value. Located behind RTO building, the sprawling Mhada housing project’s redevelopment could very well be one of the biggest to be undertaken in Nagpur.

Revenue minister Chandrashekhar Bawankule expressed confidence that the Mhada building will be redeveloped, while officials said that currently discussions are at an advanced stage.

Maheshkumar Meghmale, chief officer (Mhada, Nagpur) said, “The housing complex is over 40 year -old and has hundreds of apartments. We have had around four meetings with the residents, who have expressed a desire to start the redevelopment process. Discussions are on and once a final decision is taken, we will begin.”

From a real estate perspective, this vast land parcel is highly valuable, which is why Mhada is doing its groundwork diligently so that there are no legal hiccups in the future.

Apart from this, there is a housing bonanza which awaits many in Nagpur district courtesy central govt scheme PM Awaas Yojna. Revenue minister Bawankule said, “We will be giving over 5,000 houses to contractual employees of Koradi and Khaparkheda power plant.” Even in Nagpur city, the central govt scheme will benefit many.

Bawankule said, “All slum dwellers in Nagpur city will get pucca houses. Nagpur Municipal Corporation has started collecting data on all slums dwellers and we will ensure that everyone gets a house. Maharashtra govt has already got 20 lakh houses sanctioned under PM Awaas Yojna, and now CM Devendra Fadnavis has sought sanction for another 10 lakh.”
