NOIDA: The Noida Authority has launched a crackdown on illegal constructions on notified land across the city. As part of the drive, nearly 20 structures in areas like Gadhi Chaukhandi, Barolla, Salarpur, Basai, and Bhangel were found built without requisite approvals. These buildings have been marked in red paint with the word “illegal,” and official notices have been pasted to warn current occupants and prospective buyers.

So far, nearly 10,000 sqm of land, worth an estimated Rs 30 crore, have been freed from encroachment.

Noida Authority CEO Lokesh M said officials from Circles 1 to 10 have been directed to conduct detailed surveys to identify unauthorized constructions. “The surveys aim to pinpoint encroachers and assess illegal developments. Those found guilty will be classified as land grabbers and face strict action,” he said.

The Authority also warned the public against dealing with middlemen while purchasing land. Officials said that development on notified land will be permitted only under official guidelines.

In the past two days, demolition drives were carried out in Barolla, Salarpur, and Hajipur villages. “We demolished several under-construction houses and shops built illegally on notified land,” said a senior official.

The ongoing campaign is part of Noida’s broader strategy to expand its landbank. Currently, the Authority has 66,867 square meters reserved for industrial use, 3 lakh square meters for institutional projects, 9,686 square meters for residential development, 91,820 square meters for group housing, and 10 lakh square meters for commercial use.

Officials have been directed to act tough against those involved in illegal constructions, many of which are linked to organized encroachments.
