NOIDA: To curb illegal construction in the upcoming New Noida (DNGIR) region, the Noida Authority has appointed two lekhpals to monitor development activity across 80 villages, 20 in GB Nagar and 60 in Bulandshahr. The lekhpals will coordinate with the revenue department to identify unauthorised construction and submit weekly reports to the authority. Their appointments were formalised through an official order issued on July 4.
The two officers, Rajesh Kumar Sharma and Manoj Kumar Dubey, will each oversee 30 villages in Bulandshahr and 10 in Gautam Budh Nagar. Officials said any construction undertaken without approval within the notified area after the Master Plan 2041 (DNGIR) was cleared in October 2024 will face strict enforcement action.
Approved by the state govsernment last year, the Master Plan 2041 envisions the development of New Noida in four phases, spanning a total area of 20,911 hectares. The first phase (2023–2027) will see the development of 3,165 hectares, followed by 3,798 hectares in the second phase (2027–2032). The third phase (2032–2037) will cover 5,908 hectares, and the final phase (2037–2041) will develop the remaining 8,230 hectares.
Land for the project will be acquired on a mutual consent basis with farmers. Discussions on compensation rates are currently underway, and the final proposal will be placed before the authority’s board for approval. In the initial phase, the authority plans to acquire land from 15 villages. Meetings are being held with affected families to explain the acquisition process and compensation packages.
Bulandshahr DM and vice-chairperson of the Khurja Development Authority were inducted into the Noida Authority’s board in April this year. While Gautam Budh Nagar DM was already a board member, Bulandshahr had no representation until now.
