CHHATRAPATI SAMBHAJINAGAR: The Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar Municipal Corporation (CSMC) is anticipating a significant boost in revenue this financial year following the expansion of its property tax amnesty scheme.

Initially applicable only to residential properties, the scheme now includes commercial and industrial establishments, among other property types.

Under the revised scheme, titled Freedom from Penalty, residential property owners can avail of a 95% concession on late payment charges if they pay their dues in a one-time settlement by Aug 15.

Those who make payments between Aug 16 and Sept15 will receive a 75% concession.

Municipal Commissioner G Shreekanth introduced the scheme using his special administrative powers.

“The scope of the amnesty scheme is very much enlarged now. By incorporating all property types, we expect a huge number of property holders to clear their dues. We expect record recovery of property tax this year,” a senior CSMC official said.

By the end of the 2024–25 financial year, the CSMC had recovered Rs 157.7 crore from property tax and Rs 26.3 crore from water tax.

Deputy Municipal Commissioner Vikas Nawale said the decision to expand the scheme came following requests from guardian minister Sanjay Shirsat, local BJP MLA and cabinet minister Atul Save, as well as various industrial and merchant associations.

Property owners can make payments at their nearest ward offices or through the CSMC’s online platforms.
