LUCKNOW: The Lucknow Development Authority has begun work on its proposed Naimish Nagar scheme, spread over 1,084 hectares along Sitapur Road, to provide housing for about three lakh residents.
On Tuesday, construction began for the scheme’s first site office at Purva village in Bakshi Ka Talab. Land for the project will be acquired through consent-based agreements under the Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) approved by the authority board.
LDA vice-chairperson Prathamesh Kumar said 18 villages have been identified for inclusion in the project, including Bhauli, Lakshmipur, Purba Gaon, Purva, Sairpur, Farrukhabad, Kodri Bhauli, Kamalabad, Kamalapur, Palhari, Gopramou, Barumou, Dhatingra, Saidapur, Paschim Gaon, Dhobaila, Umrabhari and Duggaur.
“The estimated cost of land acquisition is Rs 4,785 crore. The township will have residential, commercial, and public facilities including roads, parks, schools, hospitals, and waste management systems,” he said.
According to Kumar, the scheme is designed to address housing needs and support economic growth. “It will open up opportunities in industry, health, education, and logistics, and is expected to attract investment and generate employment,” he added.
Joint secretary Sushil Pratap Singh said a team led by zonal officer Sangeeta Raghav began site office construction on Tuesday in the presence of executive engineer Ashok Kumar, tehsildar Arjan Hemchandra Tiwari, and assistant engineer Gaurav Singh.
Singh said the LDA is in talks with farmers for land purchase. “Alongside the township, we will upgrade facilities in the included villages — roads, drainage, playgrounds, marriage halls, health centres, ponds, graveyards, schools, parks and crematoriums,” he said.
Officials expect land deed processes to begin soon after consent is finalised.
