PANAJI: Goa police doubled the tenant verification drives in the first six months of 2025 compared to those conducted during the entire year of 2024. As many as 471 drives were held from Jan to June this year, compared to 236 tenant verification drives in 2024.
Police said that although no crime was detected during the drive, it helped them prevent criminal activities and maintain public safety. They said that a special tenant, servant and foreigners verification drive was initiated as ‘Know Your Neighbour’, to get tenants’ or servants’ forms filled and verified.
A senior police officer said that tenant, servant, and stranger verification roll forms are being filled and sent to their native police stations for verification and reports.
“House owners have been requested to fill in the tenant verification forms of their tenancy for their safety and security. Beat staff have been directed to fill the tenant verification forms on a day-to-day basis,” a senior police officer said.
Goa police reported that surprise inspections were also carried out in each police station jurisdiction to check for tenants who have not filled verification forms.
“After the tenant verification form is filled, it is sent to the tenant’s native police station, where it is cross-verified, and in case of any adverse report at the said police station, the same is conveyed to the police station where the tenant verification form is filled,” a senior police officer said.
