GURUGRAM: In a major crackdown on unauthorised construction in the city, the enforcement team of the corporation demolished and sealed 32 under-construction flats on Tuesday.
Officials said the illegally built flats located in Anamika Enclave, Sector 14, didn’t obtain mandatory map approval from MCG and didn’t have a fire safety NOC.
“The building didn’t have a fire escape door, which is mandatory in a building in case of a fire accident,” said MCG assistant engineer RK Mongia, adding that any form of illegal construction in the city will not be tolerated, and similar stringent actions will continue in the future.
On Tuesday, a team consisting of Mongia, junior engineers Pradeep Sharma, Rohit, Ankit Kapoor, and Varun Vashisth arrived at Anamika Enclave with an earthmover. Instructions regarding this matter had already been issued by the joint commissioner, in compliance with which the team took swift and necessary steps.
The operation was completed with the assistance of a police team, which also helped ensure full adherence to public safety protocols and all legal provisions.
MCG officials stated that buildings constructed without building plan approval are demolished as soon as they receive information about such cases. To get building plan approval, applicants can apply through the registered architects on the Haryana online building plan approval system (HOBPAS). The councillors have also raised the issue of unauthorised construction within the MCG limits and demanded action. They said that allowing illegal construction increases the burden on the city’s infrastructure and civic services. It leads to issues of illegal water and electricity connections.
