BHOPAL: The inauguration of Bhopal Metro is approaching its final stages, with critical inspections scheduled to commence on Sept 24, as confirmed by MPMRCL officials. The commencement of passenger services for the Bhopal Metro is tentatively projected for Oct.

The Commissioner of Metro Rail Safety (CMRS) will undertake a thorough assessment of the Subhash Nagar Depot and rolling stock, representing a vital step towards operational authorisation. The subsequent phase will involve station inspections, according to officials.

MPMRCL managing director S Krishna Chaitanya performed a comprehensive inspection of the Subhash Nagar Depot on Thursday in anticipation of the upcoming review.

His assessment encompassed essential facilities including the control room, inspection and repair bay lines, traction substation, training centres, and rolling stock maintenance units. He instructed officials and contractors to finalise all pending tasks swiftly whilst ensuring compliance with safety and technical requirements.

After completing the depot and rolling stock evaluation, CMRS will assess Metro stations on the Priority Corridor, including AIIMS, DRM Office, and Subhash Nagar stations. These reviews will evaluate passenger facilities, platform security measures, signalling systems, and emergency procedures.

The Bhopal Metro will receive authorisation to commence services following the CMRS’s final approval.
