LUDHIANA: The municipal corporation has demolished an illegal colony in Mundian Kalan as part of its ongoing campaign against unauthorised construction. The action, which took place on Friday, targeted the developer and several buildings on the site.
Acting on directives from muncipal commissioner Aaditya Dachalwal, the MC’s Zone B building branch carried out the demolition. Officials said the developer had been establishing the colony illegally, and the civic body teams had razed all illegal constructions on the site subsequently.
The MC has been conducting regular drives against illegal construction across the city. Earlier this week, officials took action against four illegal structures in the Model Town and Kochar Market areas.
Municipal officials appealed to residents to only begin construction after receiving an approved building plan from the civic body. They warned that the MC would continue to take strict action against any illegal building activity.
