TRICHY: The Tamil Nadu government has allocated Rs 1.2 crore to develop roads and water infrastructure for the Thiruverumbur Sipcot industrial park, Trichy’s second dedicated industrial park after Manapparai Sipcot. The district administration has identified 125 acres near the Trichy Semi-ring Road for the project.
Sipcot, with support from Guidance TN, the state’s investment promotion agency, plans to allocate the entire park to a major electronics industry investor. The park will be developed at Elandapatti and Suriyur villages, near the Olympic Training Academy. The land was retrieved from the surplus land of the Union government’s High Energy Projectile Factory (HEPF) and reclassified as government land.
Unlike other Sipcot parks, the state will develop only the main access road connecting Thiruverumbur Sipcot to the Trichy Semi-ring Road. Sipcot has approached the Tamil Nadu Water Supply and Drainage Board (TWAD) to provide 0.5 MLD of water in the first phase, along with drains and streetlights.
“Promotions are already underway to secure a major electronics sector investment for the entire 125-acre park. We aim to identify an investor by January 2026,” said Senthil Raj, MD, Sipcot.
The land cost at Thiruverumbur is expected to be higher than at Manapparai Sipcot due to its proximity—15 km—to Trichy International Airport. Sipcot is also planning another industrial park of over 170 acres near Sengipatti on the Trichy-Thanjavur highway. This park is proposed as a non-leather footwear hub, expected to generate 5,000–10,000 jobs for rural populations across Trichy, Thanjavur, and Pudukottai districts.
With existing non-leather footwear investments in Eraiyur, Padalur, and Jayankondam, the region is emerging as a non-leather footwear cluster, Sipcot noted.
